"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences."Gordon B. Hinckley, 2006

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful to be a mother of five. Yesterday I had to see a someone new at Spalon because my darling girl Deana is on maternity leave. After Kim had me seated and consulted with me about my color the "getting to know you" questions started. What do you do, where do you work, how long have been there etc... then the...do you have kids, how many?... FIVE? after this, there is always a pause. Then almost always it goes like this...how many girls, boys...how old are they and what order do they fall in, any of them twins...names...then (this is the question that they want to ask first) are they from different marriages, are they all yours, do they have the same father? After they find out that they are all mine and that they all have the same father I'm asked if we are one of those big catholic families. When I say no to that one they get this confused look and say stuff like why so many, do you like kids, did you want a big family?
I always think about what it's like when all five are home together when I'm asked these questions and I my heart swells. I love being the mother of five, mother-in-law to one and grandma to my little luv bug. I'm so thankful to have a large family and and so look forward to the growth that will keep coming. Bigger is better at our house.

I L♥VE you blog background...Beautiful! What a great story...I think some people try to fill their lives with "things" and go out of their way to accommodate people they think will enhance their lives when they have such a wonderful thing right in front of themselves...their family! My favorite days and weekends are the ones where I am just with my kids and husband at home! I love the comfort of home & family! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
