"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences."Gordon B. Hinckley, 2006

Book Of Mormon Read-A-Thon

Broc and Destany went to a Book Of Mormon read-a-thon that started tonight at six and will go until they finish tomorrow. They will only take a break late tonight to sleep. This most amazing young woman  (Miss C) in our ward organized this most amazing event. Miss C had ward members sign-up to read for a half hour at a time and had the different organizations sign up to feed the children (they are teens, I just wanted to say that). I was the first reader and even though I was only there for a half an hour I FELT the spirit very strong. They asked me to read only the numbered scriptures as fast as I could. When I started I was wondering how they were going to get anything out of my reading like a Buzz McQueen but as I was racing through I thought of Broc.
Broc had a job offer for Saturday and was really struggling about giving up the work and the $. He was talking to Tom about it last night and Tom told him that even though it seemed like he was giving up a lot he would take with him what he gets out of this weekend though out the rest of his life. Tom promised him that he would be blessed and the rewards would be greater than any amount of money he could make. Broc also loves Miss C and really wanted to support her, so he went.
As I was speed reading, that conversation went through my mind and the spirit testified to me that these kids would be blessed to understand, increase their testimonies, maybe even receive a testimony, and would be strengthen more than they have ever been before. I wanted to stay and experience it with them. I understood and remember all the scriptures that I read in that half hour! I can't wait until Sunday...it is going to be an amazing testimony meeting!!!
I <3 Miss C !!
